Sweedlana Atou
Project Manager

Ever since she joined Custom Contracting, Sweedlana Atou’s career trajectory has been on an upward path, a path she chose and pursued proactively. Her first job was as an office manager with another

construction firm, where she had the opportunity to assist with various aspects of project management.

“I liked of the idea of construction management—estimating, running jobs, working with the trades,” she says. “So, I went back to school to concentrate specifically on construction management. When I interviewed with Custom Contracting for an assistant project manager position, I could tell it was the kind of organization I wanted to work for—compassionate, caring, customer-focused. I’ve been here since 2017, and I love my job!”

Sweedlana says it takes a unique organization to do the specialized work Custom Contracting does so expertly. “Many of my projects have been in healthcare construction where we must work in the same space where doctors are delivering care to patients. That’s a big challenge, of course, but the key is communicating clearly with everyone involved and understanding and addressing their needs with respect.

“It’s also very important that we all show up and carry ourselves professionally. That’s something else that sets us apart from others in the construction industry. We know how to get the work done right the first time because we pay attention to the details and think ahead to anticipate and prevent potential disruptions before they happen.”

Sweedlana notes that  clients especially value Custom Contracting’s responsiveness and reliability. “We’re like the ‘easy button’ for our clients. We’re always just one phone call away. We do the work that others are sometimes unwilling to do, and we do it well.”
